DESCRIPTION: Tiffany & Co., New York, tall case clock, 8 day, quarter chiming, three weight driven movement and playing choice of Westminster chimes on four gongs or Whittington chimes on a nest of 8 bells, in mahogany case with barley twist columns flanking hood and beveled glass door and carvings of the North Wind at the top of the hood and on the front of the base and a brass dial with two discs for silent / strike and Whittington / Westminster and moon phase, c1915
CONDITION: original finish on case with some scuffing near feet, otherwise excellent, the center finial is a replacement, the fretwork and silk on the right side of the hood is damaged in center section and the bottom inner floor of the case is not present from a weight falling through, the nicely engraved and gilt dial is high quality; the silvered chapter has some oxidation. The second's hand is missing [post intact] and the moon phase disc has been reduced to brass with no paint, the pendulum is original with solid mahogany rod and some light oxidation on the brass bob. Very large and robust English movement with brushed pattern plates. Ht 100"
